Introduction
The Model 200 element has eight times more dirt holding capacity than conventional filters, and that means usually a 92-day service interval. Whether you have the quick-change cover or the bolt-on cover, this guide offers easy-to-follow instrucitons, plus necessary ordering information.
Be sure to read this bulleting all the way through before starting work. You will find information and tips that can save time and help insure maximum protection for the engine. These elements are designed to fit On-Board Fuel Filters, Wayside Fuel Filters and Lube Oil Filters. This guide includes service instructions for both the Quick-Change and the Bolt-on housing lids.
Quick-Change Cover Service Instructions
- Drain the fuel or lube oil from the housings.
- Wipe out the inside of the collar to remove all dirt ... this eases lid removal.
- Loosen the hand knob until it contacts the stop-nut (about 3 turns). Do not loosen the stop-nut.
- Push in the hand knob until the underside of the indicator rivets contact the cover plate.
- Raise the safety latch. You may have to turn the hand knob slightly to completely raise the safety latch.
- Grasp the wing grips and rotate the cover counter-clockwise in the slots while continuing to hold up the safety latch. Do not try to rotate the cover with the hand knob. If the cover sticks, you may use a screwdriver against the crossbar to pry it loose.
- Pull cover outward and let it hang down.
- Remove the dirty filter element.
- Check the inside of the housing carefully. Make sure it is clear of all contaminants that might shorten the life of the new filter element.
- Check the O-ring pressure seal for wear. It has been designed to resist the negative effects of fuel and lube oil, and is not expected to be replaced at every servicing. If the O-ring does need to be replaced:
a. Clean off the new O-ring seating surfaces
b. Coat the new O-ring with a small amount of oil
c. Install the new O-ring - Insert the new filter element
- Swing the cover upward. Grasping the wing grips and keeping the safety latch raised, slide the cover in place.
- Rotate the cover in the slots to engage the crossbar.
- Lower the safety latch into the pocked position.
- Tighten the hand knob - HAND TIGHTEN ONLY (about 3 turns).
