The Model 200 element has eight times more dirt holding capacity than conventional filters, and that usually means a 92-day service interval. Whether you have the quick-change cover or the bolt-on cover, this guide offers easy-to-follow service instructions, plus necessary ordering information.
Be sure to read this bulleting all the way through before starting work. You will find information and tips that can save time and help insure maximum protection for the engine. These elements are designed to fit On-Board Fuel Filters, Wayside Fuel Filters and Lube Oil Filters. This guide includes serive Bolt-on housing lids.
Bolt-on Cover Service Instructions
- Drain the fuel from the housings.
- Loosen the cover retaining nuts.
- Swing out the eye bolts and open the cover.
- Remove the dirty filter element.
- Check the inside of the housing carefully. Make sure it is clear of all contaminants that might shorten the life of the new filter element.
- Check the O-ring pressure seal for wear. It has been designed to resist negative effects of fuel and lube oil, and is not expected to be replaced at every servicing. If the O-ring does need to be replaced:
a. Clean out the O-ring retaining groove in the cover.
b. Coat the new O-ring with a small amount of grease
to hold it in the retaining cover. - Insert the new filter element.
- Close the cover.
- Swing the eye bolts back into lace and tighten the cover retaining nuts.
