Camfil Farr specialist to add expertise to Swedish university in important area of research
One of Camfil Farr's molecular filtration specialists, Mikael Forslund, has been appointed Adjunct Professor in Molecular Filtration and Control at the University of Gävle (HiG) in Sweden. The professorship is with the university's Materials Technology Department and will be part of the activities of the research school operated by the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH) on the HiG campus in Gävle. Mikael Forslund has worked with molecular filtration for Camfil Farr since 1998. He holds a Master's Degree in Engineering and a Ph.D. in Corrosion Science.
- "The addition of Michael Forslund to our staff will be a welcomed lift for our activities and will further strengthen our competence in an important area of research," comments Christer Sjöström, Professor at KTH's research school on the HiG campus.
Demands for more efficient air filtration and air quality control are increasing in step with rising levels of air pollutants, growing inner city populations and more stringent requirements from high-tech industries with sensitive manufacturing processes. Buildings and production facilities will therefore have to be equipped with new materials and technology to meet these requirements in the future, which is increasing the need for more research in the field. By appointing an adjunct professor from Camfil Farr, HiG gains external industrial expertise and experience within the important air filtration research field. Mikael Forslund will devote 20 percent of his time to the professorship over a three-year period, working parallel with his research position within Camfil Farr's R&D Department.
- "There is quite a lot to research in the molecular filtration field within the academic community and it is positive that HiG has chosen to strengthen its construction materials specialization within this important area for the future. I am looking forward to working with basic issues and inspiring and advising new doctoral candidates in the field," says Mikael Forslund.
This is the second time that a professor has been recruited from Camfil Farr, which is a world leader in the development and production of air filters and clean air solutions. In 1999, Jan Gustavsson from Camfil was appointed Adjunct Professor in Filtration Technology at KTH in Stockholm.
