Camfil Farr Filter Performance Certified by Eurovent
Camfil Farr fine filters, class F5-F9, is certified by Eurovent as part of its new Certification Programme for Air Filters.
Eurovent certification is a voluntary initiative of the European HVAC industry to make it easier for planners, contractors and end-users to choose the right products and equipment for the application at hand. Certification procedures are based on precisely defined rules and regulations and the test results provide greater transparency for customers, who can choose products on the basis of independent tests and fully reliable data. The customer gets exactly what he expects.
New programme for air filters
Eurovent Certification Programmes have existed for many years for air handling units, cooling equipment, heat exchangers and other HVAC products, but not for air filters.
The new program for air filters, initiated a few years ago, is now taking shape. A number of European air filters have joined the programme along with Camfil Farr, which has worked since 1996 to get a certification programme in place just for testing air filter performance and allowing fair comparisons between products and product performance in actual operating conditions.
F5-F9 filters tested
The filter classes in the tests are F5 – F9 and include bag filters, rigid pocket filters and panels tested in accordance with EN779. The tests are performed by SP in Borås, Sweden, and by VTT in Espoo, Finland. Both were randomly selected by Eurovent and are independent and certified to ISO 17025. Each Eurovent certification entitles the manufacturer to print the “Eurovent Certified Product” label on the product and product packaging.
Manufacturers participating in the tests submitted their filters in product groups, as specified below:
- Same filter media (such as glassfibre)
- Same basic construction (bag filters, rigid pocket filters, etc.)
- Same or lower velocity/net filter area
- Same filter class F5, F6, F7, F8, F9
- Published data has to be available, such as model, type, filter material, filter classdue to EN779, nominal air flow, initial pressure drop by nominal air flow published in brochures or by Internet on the website via Internet.
