Every Camfil Farr manifold is checked and inspected on a specially milled beam which is identically matched to the top of the EMD engine block. The manifold is pressure tested for leakage before shipment. Camfil Farr turbo manifolds can be shipped completely assembled and mounted on a shipping beam, with a spreader-type lifting mechanism that permits rapid installation of the entire manifold assembly at one time.
A safe, properly operating exhaust system has never been as important as it is today. Two exhaust related safety regulations are placing ever-increasing requirements on the railroads. Exhaust leaks pose a potential hazard to workers and may sometimes impair engine performance. The Federal Railway Administration (FRA) inspects systems thoroughly for leaks.
